What It Is

#3: loiuse - 23 September, 2009 - 11:06

Freemail is email to IM server which allows us to send emails via IM while we are working offline.

Target User

#4: loiuse - 23 September, 2009 - 11:06

Everyone, especially those who have busy schedules and perhaps only have contact with certain people via SL. In this way, the user can communicate without having to open SL or navigate in and out of the program.

What It Does

#5: loiuse - 23 September, 2009 - 11:06

Acts as a server via which emails can be sent and thus received in Second Life.

How It Works

#6: loiuse - 23 September, 2009 - 11:06

Rez the Freemail server, make a note of the email address that it gives you and then you can message your Second Life friends by just typing their name as the subject of your email. Freemail server's email address must be noted as this is the email address you will use to send emails from outside Second Life to an avatar inside Second Life.  It will be the same for all emails you send, regardless of the intended avatar.

Experience of Tool

#11: loiuse - 23 September, 2009 - 11:06

Due to the nature of the tool, Freemail is incredibly easy to use, and very handy if you don´t have time to log into Second Life and need to communicate with someone you know is online.  It is also a safe tool to use as we have full permissions to read the scripts, therefore can be sure that noone else is reading our messages.  The only drawback is the fact that we have to make a note of the server´s address which is extremely long, however, we can always copy and paste. We can also receive replies to our messages without having to log into SL as long as we have chosen the "send IM to email" option in the  "preferences" < "communications"  tab, so we can communicate quickly and easily, using different channels.
